The elite guard is an enemy encountered in Fear & Hunger. He is a much stronger variant of the prison guard and is found deeper in the dungeons.

Location[edit | edit source]

The elite guards are much more scarcely located because of the challenge they impose, so there is always only one to a specific location. He might be encountered in the Level 3 Prisons (next to the lever), Level 3 Basement (graveyard area) or Level 7 Catacombs (next to Le'Garde's cell).

Strategy[edit | edit source]

The same strategies that apply to the Prison Guards apply here, but one has to keep in mind that the Elite guard is much stronger and more durable. His sword-wielding arm is guaranteed to cause a limb loss if not focused on heavily, as even his arms need at least 500 damage to get rid of. His other, morning star-wielding arm can also cause heavy damage and broken bones.

The Elite Guard is also immune to out-of-battle attacks: arrows and bear traps will not harm him.

Death sequence[edit | edit source]

There is a unique death sequence that has a chance to trigger if defeated by him. The Elite Guard will take the unconscious player character to a hidden cell room and slowly pummels the player, using its morningstar mace, only stopping once in a few seconds to laugh maniacally. The player can crawl around in this sequence but the menu is disabled, and it is inescapable. The player has the option to move and reach the door to the room, only to find it locked, likely done so to taunt the player character.
