The Maneba is one of the first enemies encountered in Fear & Hunger.

Location & Behavior[edit | edit source]

They can be located in Level 2 Basement, slowly wandering around the area. If the player is close within their vicinity, they will generally move in the player's direction, but they're very slow and can be easily outrun. This makes them easy to get around in large open areas but almost impossible to avoid in small hallways, which are very present in the Level 1 dungeons.

Some Manebas are scarcely present later in the game, particularly in the Tomb of the Gods, in the passage near the green hue.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

The maneba, as one of the first encounters, is not a particularly relentless enemy. It has three tentacle pairs which either swing in the air (doing nothing) or whip the player for low damage. The head has a change to Inject the player, giving them stomach worms.

They drop nothing upon death but can be skinned for a Pale Skin.

The Maneba is a gelatinous, floating creature resembling a jellyfish with a number of tentacles protruding from its head. It cannot speak, talking to it however shows that it can communicate using telepathy, revealing that the creature is more intelligent than it seems as first glance. They hint at their origin being in the "place where time has no meaning" and are said to have come from the green hue in The Void.

They are very likely pawns of the Moon God Rher, whose sign is present in the Level 2 Basement where they appear. The fact that they communicate with the player telepathically (one of Rher follower's skills) suggests at this also. Moreover, they highly resemble Lady of Moon, another Rher's servant.

Dialogue[edit | edit source]

You try talking to this peculiar form...

"What is your origin?"
As the maneba floats around mysteriously, you feel as your question is answered inside your head...
Maneba's origins come from deeper depths... You see visions of ruins clouded by green hue..

"What is that place shrouded by the green hue?"
As the maneba floats around mysteriously, you feel as your question is answered inside your head...
Maneba suggests that it is a place caught in a place where time has no meaning.

"There is no need for killing."
As the maneba floats around mysteriously, you feel as your question is answered inside your head...
The maneba seems to suggest that it needs to absorb your life force... It's nothing personal.

"Prepare to die."
As the maneba floats around mysteriously, you feel as if your taunts go on deaf ears.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In the demo version of the game, the Maneba could not be skinned, had seven tentacles instead of four pairs and its sprite resembled the blob fish.
